BeatleMania!!

...Yeah I caught it about a couple decades ago, but now its caught me! I read a page or two out of George Harrison's bio at my uncle's at Mahabaleshwar (where we totally had a blast last exxxxteeennnnnndddedddeddd weekenddddeddd!!) ... and I wanted to hit the books once again ...
I remember that room where Baba played that twin-vinyl record every evening ... me and my brothers loved it. And now after two decades, after all the deep purples, pink floyds, rainbows, rushes, priests, maidens, panteras, sepulturas, hendrixes, dream theaters, symphony xes, Gibtones, Hobners, Framuses, Fenders, Ibanezes, ESPs, Yamahas, Carlo Robellis and heavens know how many more, here I am ... rediscovering the meaning of "Simplicity is a lot more than I thought" ...

Just thought Id share with all of y'all ... its a nice escape and by god a learning experience ...

Music Tantra: Bootlegs of Indian Rock concerts

One sign that the Indian Rock/Metal music scene is developing its own identity is the rise of websites/web-zines devoted to covering the music scene in India. The latest one (for me at least) is Music Tantra. The USP of this site is that it has a great download section that has audio and video bootlegs of Indian bands such as Parikrama, TAAQ, Brute Force. It also has a section for lyrics for original compositions (OCs) of many of these bands. And it also has a gig calendar. One thing that I've found somewhat irritating is that each of these music sites have their own gig calendars and if I want to find out what band may be playing somewhere in Mumbai today I have no other option to visit each of these sites individually and find out. I hope we can find a way to create a common gig-calendar that gets fed by all these individual ones so that we have source we can always go to for getting information about upcoming gigs.

But that said, I highly recommend Music Tantra. I've added it to the sidebar in this blog as well.

not hibernating anymore..

Please pardon my absence....I had been hibernating...but for a good cause. Winter prevailed, I took my good old collection of prog rock/metal with me (lucky me). This kept me warm through the harsh winter. And I woke up a different man. Yes I say different, because I am a changed man ( isn't that the same as different, duhhhh!). I woke up to my new list of top 3 bands, yes,
(top 3 for new found bands, not to be confused with all time top bands)
1) Shadow Gallery
2) Gentle Giant
3) Yes/Genesis (old!)

Discussions shall follow.....
